Dear UCSF Research Community,

We are pleased to announce a Research Gateway Project which will include upgrading and integrating selected research administration and compliance applications.

An integrated suite of applications will automate and streamline data entry and processing, expand enterprise reporting capabilities, and reduce administrative burden for staff, faculty, and other researchers. This is in alignment with the IT Operating Model’s overall strategy and program goals and will allow for further integration with other relevant and critical UCSF systems.

After conducting an extensive vendor analysis, the decision was made to engage Huron Consulting to implement cloud-based research administration tools from the Huron Research Suite.

The Research Gateway Project will facilitate transparency and collaboration between researchers and administration. The current scope includes Huron solutions for Conflict of Interest (COI) management, Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol management, and Grants Management. Export Control (currently a manual process) will be assessed as an additional module within the next two years. The first Huron solution to be launched is the Conflict of Interest module, scheduled to be available August 2024.
